Σάρτη

Το χωριό πήρε το όνομα του από την ομώνυμη αρχαία πόλη που πιθανολογείται ότι βρισκόταν στην περιοχή.
Δεν γνωρίζουμε τον χρόνο ή την αιτία καταστροφής της. Το όνομα "Σάρτη" το συναντάμε στον Ηρόδοτο, όπου αναφέρεται ως μέλος της Αθηναϊκής συμμαχίας.

Αργότερα, τον 14ο αιώνα αναφέρεται στην περιοχή χωριό με το όνομα "Ο Σάρτης", που ήταν κτήμα της Μονής Ξηροποτάμου.

Μετά την Μικρασιατική καταστροφή του 1922, κατοικήθηκε από πρόσφυγες που ήρθαν από το νησί Αφησιά της θάλασσας του Μαρμαρά και ονόμασαν το χωριό Νέα Αφησιά.

Σήμερα, η Σάρτη αποτελεί ένα από τα καλύτερα τουριστικά κέντρα, όπου ο κάθε επισκέπτης έχει την ευκαιρία να απολαύσει την ομορφιά της φύσης συνδυάζοντας βουνό, θάλασσα, καταπληκτικά κρυστάλλινα νερά και λευκή άμμος.
